At work ... I get to be with talented people in an environment that respects and fosters innovation and creativity – in the web industry every day is a new day and anything is possible.

My first job ... was as a trolley boy for Franklins Rose Bay. I was unusually keen, so they promoted me to shelf packing. As a packer, I excelled, so they made me their first male check-out chick.

My favourite part of the park ... is the tree-lined walkway between Bay 1 and the National Innovation Centre: such a great vista – pity about all the cars. I hear they’re going to restore it to its former glory and bring out the train again. The oval and tennis courts come in a close second.

An influence that shaped my life ... was a next-door neighbour, who had something called a ‘modem’. He showed me he could log into the Penfolds network and order wine. I was quite amazed and dreamt about owning my own modem one day. The year was 1988.

The place where I grew up ... was near a sheer cliff face. My brothers and I would abseil down it every weekend. If my kids even consider this they will be grounded for 12 months.

My best choice ... was my decision to propose to my amazing wife – followed by my decision to join Elcom.

My worst choice ... was rejecting a small semi, which was perfect and affordable, because we had just started looking. We finally settled for something 12 months later, which ended up being smaller and more expensive.

If I could wave a magic wand ... I would make time stand still, and find a way to bring natural light and window views to Suite 7101.

The highlight of my week ... was nailing a product demonstration to a potential customer in Canberra.

My burning ambition ... is to trek to Everest base camp. I know my limits.
